BSNL Launches VoWiFi Calling Across India What Ordinary Users Should Know

New Delhi India (UNA) :

State-owned telecom provider BSNL has activated Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) calling across India, a feature that lets customers place voice calls using Wi-Fi networks instead of traditional mobile signals. This change can be particularly useful in buildings, basements or rural areas where cellular coverage is patchy or unreliable.

With VoWiFi enabled, a BSNL user’s call will automatically switch to a Wi-Fi connection when available, offering clearer voice quality and fewer dropped calls. This means you can talk to friends and family even when your phone shows weak mobile signal, as long as you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

To use the service, customers need a smartphone that supports VoWiFi and the latest BSNL software settings. Once activated, calls made over Wi-Fi work just like regular calls you dial the number and the network connects you, without needing a separate app.

For ordinary users, this rollout is good news if you live in places where traditional network coverage can be inconsistent, such as basements, apartments with thick walls, or remote regions. Businesses and students working from home may also find better voice clarity and fewer interruptions on important calls.

BSNL said it plans to keep expanding VoWiFi compatibility with more devices and strengthen support, so even more customers can benefit. The feature also supports emergency calls over Wi-Fi where permitted, adding a layer of safety for users relying on internet connections.

This initiative follows similar moves by other telecom operators making calling more flexible and reliable. For subscribers looking to improve call experience without switching providers, VoWiFi represents a simple upgrade that uses existing connectivity at home or work.

In practical terms, this means more dependable voice calls for BSNL users especially those who struggled with weak cellular signals but have good internet access. As India’s digital landscape evolves, services like VoWiFi help bridge gaps in traditional network coverage and improve everyday communication for millions of people.
