New Delhi, India (UNA) :
India’s space agency has planned an exciting year for 2026. The Gaganyaan programme, aimed at sending Indian astronauts into space, will start with an uncrewed test mission early next year. This mission will carry a humanoid robot to evaluate systems that will later support human spaceflight.
Alongside human spaceflight preparations, ISRO plans to launch several satellites using both large and small rockets. These will include Earth observation and ocean-monitoring satellites that improve weather forecasts, track sea patterns, and support land use planning.
The agency will also conduct technology demonstration missions, testing innovations like electric propulsion and secure communication systems in space. These efforts will enhance commercial and scientific applications, benefiting services such as faster communication, improved navigation, and better data for businesses and citizens.
While deeper space missions, including new Moon rovers, are planned for later years, the 2026 schedule strengthens India’s position in space exploration. These missions promise practical benefits for everyday life from more accurate weather updates to improved connectivity and bring India closer to seeing its astronauts orbit the Earth.
