Capital on Alert: Delhi Police Tightens Law-and-Order Measures Before Year-End

New Delhi, India (UNA) : Delhi Police has intensified security arrangements across the national capital ahead of New Year celebrations, aiming to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the year-end festivities.

Officials said a large number of police personnel, including traffic units and additional forces, have been deployed at key public places, crowded markets, entertainment hubs and major entry points into the city. The focus remains on preventing untoward incidents as large gatherings are expected across several parts of Delhi on New Year’s Eve.

Popular locations such as Connaught Place, India Gate, prominent markets and nightlife zones are under special surveillance, with increased foot patrols and mobile monitoring teams. Police presence has also been strengthened at metro stations, border areas and arterial roads to manage crowd movement and traffic flow.

Authorities have set up multiple checkpoints to conduct vehicle checks and enforce traffic regulations. Strict action will be taken against drunken driving, overspeeding, reckless behaviour and violations of public order. Senior officials have directed field officers to remain alert throughout the night and respond swiftly to any emergency.

As part of preventive policing, Delhi Police has also carried out targeted operations in recent days to curb criminal activity ahead of the celebrations. These measures include intensified verification drives and action against habitual offenders to reduce potential security risks.

Delhi Police has urged citizens to cooperate with security personnel, follow safety guidelines and report any suspicious activity. Officials emphasised that the enhanced arrangements are aimed at ensuring that residents and visitors can welcome the New Year in a safe and orderly environment. - UNA
